Armin M. Najafi

Senior Associate
San Francisco, California

Armin graduated with honors from the University of California, Los Angeles, where he played Guard on the UCLA Football Team while majoring in History and minoring in Political Science and Labor and Workplace Studies.  As an undergraduate, Armin authored "Part I: Legislation" in a UCLA Labor Center publication titled Underground Undergrounds, UCLA Undocumented Students Speak Out, which was required reading at several universities and helped lead to the enactment of state and federal legislation on immigration and education.

After college, Armin attended the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, where as a member of the top-ranked UC Hastings Moot Court team he won several awards for oral argument and legal writing, including the Best Brief Award in Moot Court and Appellate Advocacy.  Armin also served as a teaching assistant throughout law school and was an executive editor on the UC Hastings Race and Poverty Law Journal and UC Hastings Women's Law Journal.

After being admitted to the California Bar in 2012, Armin worked as a civil litigator and taught Business Law as a Volunteer Assistant Professor at California State University, Channel Islands.  After several years of practicing law in Los Angeles, Armin sought a change of scenery and moved to Yosemite National Park, where he worked as an Assistant Federal Prosecutor for the National Park Service.  Armin subsequently worked as a Senior Family Law and Criminal Defense Attorney in Santa Clara County before moving to Pacifica and accepting a Senior Associate position at The Ruben Law Firm.

Armin's background in criminal prosecution and defense has allowed him to successfully defend and prosecute numerous domestic violence and civil harassment trials.  Although Armin believes negotiated settlements generally benefit parties going through a divorce, when negotiations have broken down, Armin successfully tried cases involving child custody, visitation, relocation, child support, spousal support, and property division.  Armin is fluent in Persian and has a deep understanding and appreciation of the cultural differences that affect the marriages of clients from a variety of backgrounds.
